I installed ActiveSync for my new AT&T Tilt Smartphone on my WinXP
Professional machine. It works fine the first time, but whenever I
disconnect the device and reconnect it, it won't recognize the phone.
I have to reboot the computer, and then it sycnhes just fine. I
know that ActiveSync has some quirks? Is there anything I can do
about this problem?
Thanks!

Try going to:
Start > Settings > Connections > USB to PC, and 'unchecking' > Enable
advanced network functionality.
I've seen this cause connection problems on a number of new devices in XP
and Vista.

I tried that, and it immediately disconnected from the device, so it must
be something else.

Are you saying you unchecked while the device was connected? If yes,
uncheck while it's disconnected, then plug it in, I'd be surprised if that
didn't work.

Martin,
You're correct. I had unchecked it while it was connected. So now I've disconnected
the device and then unchecked "Enable Advanced Network Functionality". That did
the trick. Now it detects the device every time without rebooting.
Cool!
Thanks again! You're a genius!

What about those of use that do not have "enable Advanced network
functionality" option on their BJ2 WM6 std. There appears to be no way to
select the USB-Serial option of syncing...

USB-PC, not USB-Serial
Can you get to Start->Settings ? If you can, is the bottom line
0 More...
?
If it is, did you try pressing 0 (zero)?

Yes, on BJ2 wm6 std, there is no USB-pc selection. under connections I can
select USB, at which point there are activesync, modem, mass storage...alas,
no way to turn off RNDIS connection method!
