Yes, another question on this.
I am taking this set up one step at a time. I have an Exchange server with
a public IP address. I have not yet put SSL on OWA. I understand OWA is a
requirement to sync a smartphone to Exchange, though not sure why.
I have the HTC S621.
I get the dreaded 85010014 when trying to sync. I am using the public IP
address of the Exchange server, and I temporarily opened port 80 to see if it
works. (I can use a browser to get to OWA using http://IPAddress/exchange as
my test).
My questions are:
In the ActiveSync config, is the server just the ip address, no /exchange or
anything else before or after the ip address?
Any other thoughts as to why this does not work?
Thanks.

Hi David!
Check wether anonymous access is enabled under the virtual directory \exchange in IIS. It has to be disabled.

Hi Ulrich,
Thanks for replying. I checked, and it is disabled already.

Have you tried to use http to connect to server-ip\oma? You should be prompted for credentials.
Have you tried to use http to connect to server-ip\microsoft-server-activesync? You should reciev error 501/505.

Hi,
Yes, I get prompted on OMA.
I also get prompted on the other, but when I try to enter credentials, I get
HTTP/1.1 501 Not Implemented.

Ulrich,
I have not seen a reply from David on this but I have been following as I'm
in the same boat and still unable to complete an Exchange Activesync.
I can also complete the same steps as you indicated with the same results.
Can you provide the next step in this process?
