I got the answer from HTC UK:
"Unfortunately Remote Desktop has been removed from Windows Mobile 6, thus
it will not be present on the HTC TyTN II "
I can't believe it. I have the sam question, where and how can I get RDM?

Hi,
Do you mean to say that you want the viewer to manipulate with the device on
the desktop so that u can use the mouse to navigate around the device.

Rajesh.

Actually RDM is still part of WM6, but it's an optional component that OEMs
like HTC can offer if they choose to.
As far as finding it, MS does not offer it as a standalone app, so you'd
have to search for a quasi-legal source for it on "hacker" sites. *cough*
xda-developers.com *cough* |

No, I think the OP wants to access his XP Pro/Vista desktop from his PPC.
RDM is the modern WM5/6 equivalent of the old WM2003 Terminal Services
Client.
As a workaround, the OP could use the free LogMeIn.com service. (You
download a small app to both the desktop and the PPC and can remotely
access and control the desktop from the PPC as long as both are connected
to the internet.)
LogMeIn (and GoToMyPC, etc.) are reliant on third party services, which
might be undesirable from a security or reliability standpoint. TSC/RDM
allows one to do it themselves without a 3rd-party involved.
(Personally I use LogMeIn- it's a simpler setup, and allows me to access my
XP Home PCs remotely as well, since TSC/RDM requires XP Pro.) |
