From what I understand, there is no version of MS Reader for Windows Mobile
v. 6.0. Is this a true statement? Has Microsoft dropped support for Reader
for new versions of Windows?

Windows Mobile is a generic os term which encompasses both the
dissimilar pocketpc and smartphone platforms, and, while it is true
there is no reader for the smartphone platforms, the pocketpc version
should load and run with no problems on any of the pocketpc versions of
windows mobile including version 6 and above.

afaik, msreader is the only app that supports .lit files but others such
as mobipocket have ppc reader apps for other ebook formats.

I'm unable to run MS Reader on my mobile 6 device, I get the message that it
is not a valid ppc program.

pocketpc apps are installed on the sync pc, not the ppc itself... see;
