This is to help anyone having bother activating MS reader while running
WM2006.
I recently upgraded my o2 XDA Orbit (aka HTC P3300) ROM to WM2006 and after
installing MS Reader got the usual error about it being an old device and not
running PPC 2002 or later.
After searching through various forums etc. I found references to files
OEMinfo.xml and uhid.dll as well as a post with instructions from Christine
about uninstalling on both the mobile device and desktop PC, before
reinstalling and activating before resetting the mobile device.
Well it was all rubbish, none of it worked. Eventually I found a link
elsewhere on this board to a fix from HP. Now I don't have an HP device, but
figuring I had nothing to lose I downloaded it and ran it anyway and it
worked a treat. The link was originally posted by R2B2 and is shown below.

Finally, I want to have a rant about MS Reader support. I have owned a
Pocket PC since they first came out and use MS Reader mainly because I have
invested in ebooks that I don't wish to lose. Why is it that every time a new
version of the mobile operating system comes out the same activation problems
with Reader occur. Microsoft are trying to place the blame onto the OEMs
tweaking ROMs, but it is Microsoft who distribute the core code for the ROM
images, so it is up to them to ensure each new release works. It's like a bad
joke!!!! Rant over.
