Is it possiable to hand write (it is) text into mobile word and have it
spoken? My reason for this is my wife has no voice. If this could be done it
would make her life a lot better!
Thank you!

This has come up in the past and there wasn't anything great. That was some
time ago and I figured things might have changed. There are a number of good
GPS Nav programs around that include very acceptable Text to Speech, so I
figured there might be something now. Did a quick search for Windows Mobile
Text to Speech and got some hits. Dug into one that looked promising and
found this,

It's $50 but may be great for your wife. It seems to come with a female
voice option, and the possibility of adding others from their site. Look
around on the site as they have a lot of examples. I can't actually
recommend anything in particular, as I don't use any personally. This one
may take a little finagling to make it work easily, as it seems to read
stuff in a document. I would guess though it might be possible to just open
a note, write, recognize, and then have it read it. There certainly is a WM
Speech SDK. I would guess it wouldn't be that hard to put together an app
that opens to an ink screen, recognizes a written word or phrase and then
says it, on a button press. Not really a programmer, but have dabbled, and
that doesn't sound too tough. Maybe someone will take up the challenge if
the above doesn't work well enough.

Good Luck

Seven,
Thank you, for what you have done! I have the program you mention, it is a
very good program with the execption of the hand writing regoniction part, it
just does not convert the handing writing well, it takes her quite a while to
correct it. That's why I was wondering if mobile word could be use for it has
a good hand writing regonition program and have it speak what was wrote. any
ideals has how it might work?
Thanks again, Chuck

Not long ago, the same question came up on the tablet forum and a quick
look found that there a number of pc apps that might meet this need,
plus there are an increasing number of ultra mobile pc's which run full
versions of windows.

No success, my wife has a umpc and it works great, with the Nextup Talker
program!
She has a problem with the hand writing program in Text Speech Pro on the
IPAQ; That's why I'm trying to see if there is a way to get (1) mobile word
to speak when in the transcriber mode. (2) Or by sending what she wrote to
the text speech pro program.

good luck... keep us posted, and please do the same in the tablet group.

While not a constant issue, special needs requests come up quite
frequently, so, following up with details on success and dead ends get's
archived and in place to help others who follow on the same or similar
quests.
