Christine,

I can not get Microsoft Reader to activate on my new HP IPAQ RX1955. It is
running Windows Mobile 5.0 and I was told you could get me the patch I need
to fix this problem.

Thank you,

Wesley Phillips

Christine,

When will Mircosoft be releasing a Patch or Fix for the issues with Mobile
5.0 and the Dell Axim X51v. Only TODAY after nearly 3 weeks of trouble
shooting and calls ... I got an ADMISSION from Dell that there are some major
issues with Mobile 5.0 and Active Sync 4.x (as far as their Axim product line
runs) Before that ... Microsoft techs direct me to Dell, Dell directs me to
Microsoft and I have spent excessive time on the issues. I am a Tech and I
cannot see how the average usere could connect a Mobile 5.0 product to an
exisiting desktop and walk away "happy at first sync".

The Axim X51v was my choice but I also bought into the Mobile 5.0 hype for
all the tech promo reasons and all the other "sync-able" products, PDA,
Phones etc.

I intially by passed the Active sync 4.0 installatin when I found out 4.1
was released ... then after a few days of that and countless resets (at the
advice of Microsoft Techs & Dell Techs) and way, way after the Bios upgrade
.... it is a troublesome ordeal.

I need my data immediatly syncable and accurate, no truncated note fields
(in contact list) no disappearing CF cards, no non-regonition of GPS devices,
no mandatory issues of Server sync-ing (let's face it .... I have a server
and I refuse to sync it until the bugs are out .. but what does the average
Joe/Jane do ?)

When can we expect to see ... and how much priority is Microsoft placing on
the Mobile 5.0 issues ??

This reminds me of the old days with replications of data, mis-syncs, and
3rd party sync software (even before Active Sync 3.5, 3.6, 3.7 then was it
3.71 then 3.8 ?) ... and I don't shoot dice ... I like it to be stable and
secure.

My Microsoft woes have been piling up so badly that I purchased a test Mac,
NEW G4 Powerbook, 1.67, 17", 2GB Ram with Tiger. I installed Microsoft OFFICE
for Mac PROFESSIONAL with Virtural PC7. Went through all those issues until
patches were made ... and still won't run XP pro worth a darn .. and other
issues like all LICENSED software (xp pro OEM disc install in VP7) not being
recognized as "authentic" and having an Microsoft Tech in India tell me how
to SHUT OFF THE AUTHENTICATION .. instead of resolving the issue. She
instructed me (after I proved I had a LICENSED product) how to by-pass the
authentication and INSISTED she resolved the problem) Then I brainstormed
back to Windows 2000 Professional which is the last remaing Microsoft O/S
that is not a memory hog.

I must admit ... when you get an Apple Tech on the line ... you KNOW you've
spoken to a technician ... and very little could go wrong there ... no
firewall issues, no virus issues, no wondering how many 100's of personal
items on your computer are being exploited (running in the background) by
Microsoft franchiseees or Corps having a deal with BG to exploit the US
Public.

I am sorry you have had such a frustrating experience. I have a Dell Axim
X51v and haven't run into these issues myself but I know that others have at
times. I can't personally fix the issue, but I can take your email and pass
it onto the Windows Mobile team to see if they can assist you further.

Christine,

I would appreciate if you would send this on to a REAL Microsoft Tech, past
two experiences (and I rarely ever call) have been complete wipe outs with
very poorly trained people from India, both times but that seems to be the
trend now ... buy and American Company Product and support another country.

Thank you. Sal

Hey,
I've been trying to figure out how to activate my Hp iPAQ rx1955 Microsoft
reader and when searching google for fixes, saw your reply to Wesley. Would
it be possible to get the fix sent to my email address too?
Thanks,
Stephanie

mllechery:

HP has a fix for activation on their devices please go to
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=US&swItem=PSG_I23526-108664
and download the patch. Once you have installed this patch soft reset your
device. Neglecting to soft reset your device after installing this patch
will result in problems with your activation later. Once you have soft
reset your device you should be able to activate. If you have issues beyond
activation with your reader please reply back and I will do my best to
assist you further.

Sincerely,
Christine - Microsoft Reader Team
