We have a peer network on Windows 98SE which we need to upgrade to XP.
However, the name we chose for the database server was "F&Pservices" (without
the quotes). This conforms to the network naming conventions but testing on
XP shows that XP will not accept the & character. Unfortunately, this name is
buried in many applications we use (our office productivity system is Lotus
SmartSuite) and so is extremely difficult to change.

Is there a way to manually wnter this name inot XP, bypassing the normal
window entry?

Alternatively, I note that when Windows 98SE displays the name f&pservices
back to me, it is shown as fpservices but with the p underlined. Is is
possible to input this name into XP and if so, how?

Many thanks
Derrick Price

This is wrong group to post the question.Guess you have better chance of
getting an answer if you post in the windows networking group.
