I have an HP iPaq112. I cannot, for the life of me get the PDA to connect
to my laptop via Bluetooth.

I have followed the instructions to the letter but neither PDA nor the
laptop can detect each other during the connection phase.

I have configured COM1 as a virtual BT connection. I have also enabled the
iPaq in the Bluetooth manager.

In the iPaq itself its Bluetooth manager has a connection to the laptop
icon.

The two machines can "see" each other but that's as far as it gets.
ActiveSync can't see the iPaq.

Laptop runs Windows XP SP2.

Is there any secret to getting all this to work?

I can successfully connect using a USB cable.

Thanks

Hi,

Try checking if "ActiveSync" service is selected under the Bluetooth
partnership setting that you have with your laptop. To access it:

Tap Start- Settings - Connections tab - Bluetooth - tap the laptop under the
device listing.

When I went to this page I found the following items:

Under the General tab

Bluetooth General

Current Profile - Default in the dropdown box

Bluetooth Status

Bluetooth is On/Off

BT On Off buttons

Use the Bluetooth manager to set Connections

Along the bottom the following tabs appear

General, Accessibility, About and Services.

I clicked on "Bluetooth Manager" and the laptop's icon appeared. Its title
is "Activesync with Asus" (name of the laptop).

I've given up. Bluetooth, for me is one of the worst hit and miss
"technologies" that have appeared on a computer since the days of MS DOS
and when they introduced "plug n play".
