I sync my Axim on both my laptop and our "family desktop" - this has never
been a problem as I installed AS for myself and deleted the HKCU_Run
entries for everyone else. Now, my daughter just bought herself an Insignia
(Best Buy) MP3 player and installed the "Best Buy Music Store" (Rhapsody-
based) software it came with. When we ran BBMS the first time, it kept
trying to install AS for my daughter's user account. But the setup file had
long been deleted. I uninstalled AS4.5 (for other reasons as well, see my
other thread on "switch user") and then BBMS installed and ran just fine. I
reinstalled AS4.5 in my account but then it wanted to install it in her
account again.

Anyone know why this is? A workaround? The only reason this is a problem is
because AS4.5 is incompatible with switch user (which, with 4 of us sharing
this computer) we use a lot. For me, it's OK but I don't want the AS window
opening everytime she switches back to her account.

I guess the simplest answer is for me to synch only on the computers I
alone use. Still, if there is another workaround, I'd love to know it.

Hi,
WCESCOMM.EXE is designed to be reinstalled into the run key. Also,
ActiveSync does definitely not support switch user. There is no workaround
for this.

The closes I can suggest is to use a 3rd party app like Killsync from
www.pocketpcfaq.com/applications to stop ActiveSync as part of the Startup
folder.

Do you know whyu Rhapsody wants it installed? I've also heard that it uses
RAPIMGR.exe - but when AS is not installed at all, it doesn't try to use
it. There must be a way to configure Rhapsody/Bestbuymusicstore not to do
this.

Hi,
I do not know why Rhapsody is doing this. Rhapsody is a 3rd party app so I
suggest you contact Real Networks and ask about it.
