Is there no way to zoom a video clip (.WMR) in media player? (WM2003SE)
I did find the "full screen" option, but this is no good: the clip remains
the same size, only now with black background around it...
It's really tiny, much smaller than the screen of my PDA.

>> WMR <<

got a sample url?

How did you get the clip to/on the device?

There is also a good possibility that the source sniffed your useragent
string and proffers only a small screen version.

If you synced, you might check the conversion settings in wmp on the
sync pc.

>> properties <<

What are the video properties? To find out, try running it on the pc
and use wmp to check the properties.

I recorded it from the web and copied it to SDcard of PDA.

Aflevering 4: Noordoost-Twente (although I suppose all clips have similar
properties)

On PC I can play the clip big 200%. (W2k SP4, mediaplayer 9)

I copied the file to SDcard using a card reader, then inserted the card in
the PDA.
Still, I had a look in activesync: convert files was checked. (But there is
no entry for media files)

That's going to be the show stopper... it appears to be playing at 100%
and while video's zoom can be reduced, don't think it can be increased.

You can, of course, use pc software to create a larger format with
associated blocks.

The conversion settings are in WMP... check while the device is connected.

If you use wmp to transfer to the card reader, check there as well...
know that settings are in place, but remember that they might not be
changable.

I assumed it to be possible to increase the size to 200%, like on the PC. Of
course with quality loss accepted.
Also, the option "full screen" doesn't seem to do what it promisses in
WM2003SE mediaplayer.

Another thing: I tried to play an .MP4 file on my PDA. Mediaplayer doesn't
seem to recognize it. Would you know an alternative way to play these (and
possibly divx) on the PDA?

Think it might be time to look at one of the third party alternative
players... wmp has really dropped the ppc user needs...

google for POCKETPC AUDIO PLAYER

I believe "full screen" simply has the same meaning as it does in Pocket IE-
it removes the menu bars, controls, etc. to give an "uncluttered" view of
the screen.

WMP has no zoom capability beyond 100%, as Bev already said.

You can fix both of your problems with one great, free app- TCPMP (The Core
Project Media Player) available at http://picard.exceed.hu/

It plays Divx and most other video and audio formats, and can zoom both Divx
and .wmv files a variety of ways (by %, "best fit," "fill screen" etc.)

Plug-in are also available to handle YouTube .flv and Apple's H264 files.
It's not the "prettiest" media player, in terms of user interface, out
there, but it's versatile enough that I use for everything WMP can't do.
I've never needed anything else.

This is a welll-known problem with (older) WMP's. Get either TCPMP or
CorePlayer (or both).

Yes, I was advised TCPMP by another user as well. I'll get into it asap.

Yes, I figured that. Funny how many different things can be meant by one
simple term...

It sounds good so I'm going to give it a try. At last I may be able to wach
some missed TV programs while I'm on my way with the car. I'll let you know
the results.

Afraid I'm out of luck:
"This open source media player project is discontinued. Check out the
commercial CorePlayer software or the soon to be released open source
BetaPlayer project."

So I decided to try CorePlayer and this is really something else! It uses
the available screen space intelligently, even when not in full screen mode!
I have tested it with .asf and .MP4. Both file formats display large and
quality remaining very good! Soon will be testing divx.
Thanks for the great tip!

While TCPMP IS discontinued, it's still by far the best freeware player -
you can safely use it on even the most modern phone.

Nevertheless, for most purposes (EXCEPT HE-AACv2, YouTube and AC3),
CorePlayer IS better.

Now playing a 700MB xvid file. Performing great too. I suppose all video
file formats will play OK now.
BTW this isn't a phone, but a PPC (Asus Mypal A730), mainly used for car
navigation. I suppose this device is what they call "ancient" nowadays Smile
