I posted this on these forums before and there was no answer yet the post was
deleted. I am now posting again to try and find a solution. My Windows Live
worked perfectly on my Motorola Q9 Global phone with AT&T, then about 2 weeks
ago, it stopped syncing and my hotmail and Messenger no longer work.
The Sync will fail, and I can not connect to Messenger through the Windows
Live application. This is built in, so I cannot simply uninstall and retry.
I also posted that I tried a hard reset, and that did not work.
Windows support told me the trick of changing your login photo to a stock
image, but that did not work. I also tried to delete many of the emails in my
hotmail Inbox, as was suggested, but that did nothing as well.
Does anyone have an answer to getting Windows Live working on Windows Mobile
6.0 for the Motorola Q phone?

Update: When I reset the account on the phone, it will very rarely complete
the setup and actually connect with the sync servers. All the Windows Live
features will work great UNTIL I have to soft reset the phone (turning it off
and back on). Then the sync fails once again, and back to square one.
Is anyone from MS even investigating this problem? It seems quite widespread
on the forums with no answers.

Anyone? Does MS monitor these posts? No one cares that many people cant use
this service?

I have the same problem with my phone...worked for about a week and then died
(no longer able to sync). I've tried all the steps you mentioned to no
avail, but I was able to figure out that if the phone is connected to a PC
and the phone is sharing the Internet connection of that PC via Active Sync,
I can "switch account"s and sync perfectly...everytime. When I then
disconnet the phone from the PC, I maintain the sync'ing using AT&T until I
reboot the phone. Then I have to hook it up to the PC again to switch the
account and start over (switching the account just using AT&T's GPRS (EDGE)
NEVER works..I have to do it thru the PC).
It seems to me that when I do switch the account, the login info for the
account is being processed properly by the MS servers (via GRPS/EDGE) but the
transport layer isn't able to connect to tcp.mwb.mobile.live.com on port
50001 via AT&T after a reboot of the phone. Obvioulsy though, this isn't
because AT&T is blocking the port...as it does work perfectly after it has
been set up from the PC Internet pass through and then put back onto the
GPRS/EDGE network.
What seems to be the problem here, is that some sort of setting that is
created after a successful account creation is not being kept after a reboot
of the phone. Furthermore, it seems as if the Windows Live software is not
able to detect the most appropriate Internet connection on the phone to use
(I was able to delete the wap proxy and change the USB connection to "mass
storage" to force Windows Live to look for and use ONLY MEdia Net for "The
Internet" once and it worked).
I have been all through the phone registry looking for some setting that may
hold promise to solve this issue but to no avail. What we need here is
someone from Microsoft that has developer knowledge into how the software
works on a WM6 smartphone (more specific a Motorola Q Global on the AT&T
network).
I am confident that if we were able to speak with someone who produced this
software, we should be able to figure this out in a short period of time!
Please Microsoft, this is affecting quite a few owners of this phone and we
would appreciate any qualified help you can provide!

I'm no expert, but I think that AT&T typically forces some form of proxy
through their servers when connecting through MEdia Net. I use an HTC
product, which has extensive user support on xda-developers.com, and there
are cabs available which disable the proxies.
You're posting in the wrong place if you're looking for support.
Unfortunately, Microsoft provides the operating systems to manufacturers
(HTC, Motorola, Samsung, etc) and they tweak the OS and software package to
their liking. Then they provide these devices to carriers (AT&T, T-Mobile,
Sprint, etc) who FURTHER customize the operating system and hardware.
Because MS simply provides the underlying OS on the phone, they can't really
handle tech support for all the modifications and apps that other
manufacturers and providers decide to install on the phones.
Good luck looking for a solution. My fiance uses a Q9h and I want to let
her use Live Messenger and avoid all these texting fees but they've blocked
access to Live Messenger so you can use the bundled IM app. Hopefully I can
find my own solution as well. |

Your right andweng, its rather complicated with so many cooks in the
kitchen... try a moto forum or give http://www.ppcgeeks.com/ a try, they
have forums by device, eg. HTC Touch. Good luck!
