LS,
recently I renewed my home network replacing my old SpeedTouch 570i with a
new SpeedTouch780WL(i) modem/router.
My network now functions quite good and I even managed to hook up my iPAQ
hx4700 (WM5.0) into the network (WPA protected).
However, in order to get it working I had to assign a fixed IP-address,
subnet mask and default gateway (whilst leaving the tab 'name servers' blank).
The device is admitted and connected since it clearly gives the status
"connected" (to the wireless network with correct SSID).
But next trying to surf to any internet page or approaching shared folder in
the network it fails while showing the following message "The page cannot be
found. Check the name and try again".
The status page of my router/modem does not show the PDA to be connected as
part of the wireless network (it does show desktop and laptop computers).
When running MS Network Analyzer on my PDA.
Diagnose for IP shows:
IPConfig PASS
Ping Localhost PASS
Ping HTTP server FAIL
Net Stats PASS
How can these data be used so as to find the cause of not being able to
reach the internet thus displaying the following message "The page cannot be
found. Check the name and try again".
Any suggestion for troubleshooting is still most welcome!
I would very much appreciate any help!
