I should point out that this is *NOT* an official Microsoft support gateway.
It's a public newsgroup and, although some of the ActiveSync guys at
Microsoft can be found here from time to time, there's no one at MS whose
job it is to monitor or respond on this group.

You should probably contact the vendor who sold you the phone for support,
or the phone manufacturer, depending on how you got it, exactly. If you
bought the phone from a service provider, they'd be your contact; if you
bought the phone from some other source (bought it without service attached,
for example), the phone manufacturer would be the contact.

We have more experience with real-world problems, maybe (and a healthy
skepticism about AS), but we don't have any method to make Microsoft *do*
anything about actual bugs or documentation errors that we might find...
The phone vendor/service provider buys thousands of devices, so they have
*PULL* (and a direct Microsoft contact for technical support problems). If
you can convince them that you are a problem for them unless they find a
fix, they have the necessary abilities to help you.

Just to provide some closure on this I have solved the WMDC sync issue.
Deleted WMDC from my machine and then (having backed up on XP laptop) hard
reset my E650 (hold two soft keys and turn on.) Then unticked the 'Enable
enhanced network functionality' box. Downloaded WMDC and reconnected phone.
It now works. Have some sort of problem with screen not timing out properly
- but that is minor compared to non-syncing.

I'd like to thank Ben for this information. After much grief attempting to
sync my HTC S720 with my Windows Vista x64 Mobile Device Center 6.1, I was
able to get syncing to work in the same manner. I had uninstalled WMDC, then
did the hard reset. I then installed WMDC, plugged in my device, and PRESTO!
It worked as well as it should have the first time!

Thank you for posting the closure... I wish everyone did!
