Hi group, I'm thinking about upgrading my XV6700 to the new version
(XV6800), but I haven't seen any reviews on the new model from Verizon's
website or any other website, does anyone know when it will be available
and how the phone is performing on the field? TIA

The 6800 has been available for verizon for a few months now. As far as
performance goes I can't really say because verizon is known for degrading a
device to fit their needs. Still with Windows Mobile 6 on the device, the
additional memory and EvDO rev A upgrade it's a much nicer device than the
6700. Both which I own on the Sprint network.

Thanks Eric, actually I went today to my local store to check the 6800, I
did notice that the device responds alot faster to any command even when
you slide open the keyboard the display changes to landscape mode almost
immediately, I just don't know how the Windows Mobile Professional 6 is
going to play with the rest of the my 3rd party programs such as Pocket
Plus and siblings...any feedback? TIA

Windows Mobile 6 will suport Pocket Plus and other 3rd party apps without
issues. You may want to check for updates of your 3rd party apps. I didn't
have any issues with my 3rd party apps when moving from WM5 to WM6. As a
matter of fact I'm running pocket plus on my Sprint 6800.

Nice! well we'll see how it goes on my renewal time, $600.00 is a bit
ridiculous right now, but thanks for the info.

I've had the xv6800 for awhile and I have a few issues with it in comparison
to my old xv6700.
1. when the phone is on "stand-by" my text messages and reminders like my
alarm do not go through. For some reason it doesn't overide the standyby.
What I mean by standby is when the phone is off. My old phone over-road that
and let me know when calls, texts, reminders would come in.
2. Bluetooth: it shuts off every now and then. I use it for my headset,
Plantronics Voyager 855 (works great!) and handsfree for my truck. After a
call, it shuts off every now and then. I have tried to find a pattern but no
luck.
3. Also the power button sometimes does not want to start the phone again. I
have to boot it again using my stylus. It goes on stanby and wont start again?
4. Do you know if Windows Live mobile will have a calander coming out? I
would like to view my online calender but I haven't figured that out.

It seems that you are experiencing the BSOD (black screen of death) this
was and is a very annoying occurrence with the XV6700, Verizon came out
with an update but only corrected some bugs, and the device still repeats
the problem, I would check with the Manufacture for an update or check
their support forums for more information.

Could it be settings on the bluetooth or the way you have your battery's
profile setup

Same as your number one

Sorry no clue, but if you can't access the online calendar? I would stick
to the one that comes with your device and then Sync when available.
